Some notes because this might have some headaches.

Canonical's repository has a 1.4.~ version, which is neither the LTS (1.0.5) nor current (1.5.3). tarballs and snap are both options.

What packages should be installed by default through Julia's pkg.add? At least pycall, but likely others.

Current python and possibly configuration, to specifying which python versions for package manager to use are also needed.

It also uses llvm, so other helper utillties might be warranted.
